I am delighted that we can hear from Karen Howell on Wirral’s approach to this enduring issue and challenge. As you will recall, TLC has formidable experience and capability within our Health and Care Forum and naturally I hope they and you will join us and be fascinated by Karen’s presentation.

Karen is the Chief Executive of Wirral Community NHS Foundation Trust and has been working with leaders across the system of Wirral for the last six and a half years. She is a highly experienced local, regional and national leader, with in excess of 40 years working across the NHS, social care and independent sectors.

Karen has significant experience working as both a clinician and manager across the care provider and commissioning sectors; primary care, community care, mental health and acute hospital services. She is solution and outcome driven, preferring to work collaboratively with people across organisations and systems to effect positive change. She is committed to workforce development and is both a coach and mentor, practicing locally, nationally and internationally, and is an advocate of continuing professional development and life-long learning.

Amongst Karen’s qualifications, she remains a Registered Nurse and has a Masters in Biomedical Ethics and Law.
