Trade is particularly susceptible to global volatility, a situation that has always been the case but which seems to have become more urgent in recent times as we move closer to overt economic warfare.
From concerns over the Arctic Circle – with opposing nations engaging in territorial disputes as they compete for ownership of natural resources – to growing unease regarding cybersecurity threats, global powers are being severely tested in how they respond to perceived acts of aggression, and how those scenarios can potentially impact on national economies, physical supply chains and the markets with which they are intrinsically linked.
Utilising a special interactive scenario-planning (or ‘wargaming’) format, this special interactive session will be audience-led, with a live-voting module helping to dictate the plotline as a series of leading macroeconomic and geopolitical experts lead the TLC network through a series of situations before offering conclusions on the potential implications for trade practitioners as ‘foot soldiers’ in the geoeconomics of international conflict.

Over the past 20 years, Nathalie has worked with senior leaders across the private and public sectors to transform intelligence functions and integrate geopolitical intelligence into strategic decision-making. In recent years, much of her work has been related to the geopolitical risks and opportunities connected with climate change and the green transition.
Prior to joining Gatehouse she was Vice President for Risk Intelligence Solutions at IHS Markit and S&P Global where she led commercial strategy for country and geopolitical risk products and consulting solutions. She has also worked in an advisory capacity on geopolitical risk for global advisory firm StoneTurn, and as the Africa and consulting lead for political risk forecasting company Exclusive Analysis.
In addition to her work for Gatehouse, Nathalie is a non-executive director at sustainability specialists Forster Communications. Nathalie has a PhD in War Studies from King’s College London and an MSC and BSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics.
Kevin Bourne
Kevin Bourne is a Managing Director & Head of S&P Global Sustainable One Investment Research. In this role Kevin is responsible for setting the firms global agenda for ESG and climate research across financial markets and into investors, in support of S&P Global’s broader business visions and product objectives.
Previously, Kevin was Managing Director and Co-Head of Sustainable Finance at IHS Markit and prior to this was Global Head of Sustainable Investment at LSEG/FTSE Russell. Kevin has deep knowledge of financial markets and the ESG/Climate Change linked challenges faced by clients, especially regulation. Prior to focusing on these issues, Kevin spent 25 years in Equity Markets, latterly as Managing Director & Global Head of Electronic & Portfolio Trading at HSBC.
Dr. Rebecca Harding
Dr. Rebecca Harding is CEO of the Centre for Economic Security, a Senior Fellow of the British Foreign Policy Group, an Associate at Earendel Associates, an independent trade economist and strategic adviser to financial services organisations, and a public speaker.
She has built three data-based technology businesses, and in 2022 was awarded the Scale Up Group’s “Net Zero Entrepreneur of the Year” Award. She has held senior positions as Head of Corporate Research at Deloitte, Senior Fellow at London Business School, and Chief Economist roles at the Work Foundation and at UK Finance. She acted as Specialist Adviser to the Treasury Select Committee and advised the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Entrepreneurship. She is an associate Partner of the T3i network, and a member of the World Trade Board, and the ICC’s sustainable trade “Eco-terms” working group. She co-chairs the ITFA’s ESG Audit Council. Between 2004 and 2018 she was a Director and Trustee of the German-British Forum.
Her books, “The Weaponization of Trade: the Great Unbalancing of Policy and Economics” and “Gaming Trade: Win-Win Strategies for the Digital Era” defined the trade-based nature of strategic competition in the digital era. She has authored 8 other books on the German economy, technology and innovation and finance, and frequently appears in broadcast media internationally.
