Richard Jackson: Richard is a Director in IHS Markit’s Country Risk team and heads all training and coaching for analysts, having previously been responsible for the team’s data acquisition and quality and a global role in auditing analytical judgements. Richard was a civil servant in the MOD and Cabinet Office focusing on national security issues, resilience planning and Northern Ireland security. He led the MOD’s security normalisation programme in Northern Ireland from 2005 to the end of ‘Operation Banner’ in 2007 before moving to the Assessments Staff in the Cabinet Office heading a team providing strategic intelligence assessments on Iraq, Northern Ireland and global terrorism to the Joint Intelligence Committee, Prime Minister and Cabinet Ministers.

Jack Kennedy: Jack is an Associate Director and Head of Desk for the Middle East and North Africa with the Economics and Country Risk forecasting team. He specializes in political risk and violence trends across the MENA region, with a particular focus on the Gulf states, Egypt, and the eastern Mediterranean. Prior to IHS Markit, Mr Kennedy was lead Middle East analyst for a business and political risk consultancy firm in Scotland. He holds an MLitt in Middle East and Central Asia Security Studies from the University of St Andrews and an MA in Arabic and Social Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh.

David Li: David is a Principal Research Analyst and the lead country risk analyst for Greater China at IHS Markit’s Economics and Country Risk team. He advises clients on political, economic, and regulatory environments in Asia-Pacific countries. Before joining IHS Markit, David was an economist at Deloitte LLP and an economic affairs consultant with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), where he worked directly with Asia Pacific member state governments in natural disaster impact modelling and applications of space technology in development strategies.

Alex Kokcharov: Alex is a Principal Research Analyst with IHS Markit Country Risk and Forecasting’s Europe & Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) team, and is responsible for analysis of political, operational and security risks in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova and Tajikistan. Alex has nearly 20 years’ experience in data-driven business and political journalism and risk analysis. He has particular expertise on Russian and Ukrainian political, business and energy developments. Alex has lived in Belarus, Ukraine, Tajikistan, Russia, Germany and the UK; he speaks Russian, German and Belarusian fluently, has a working knowledge of Ukrainian and speaks basic Polish. Alex has a Masters in Geography and Economics from Belaruski Dziarzhauny Universitet in Minsk and studied for a PhD in Human Geography at the University of Oxford.
