Chris Brindley MBE
Controlling the Controllables
Are we allowing global macro events (and how it is presented on Main Stream Media) to get in the way of taking action on a personal and local level?
“We appear to be in a state of “Perma Crisis” ( Permanent Crisis ) and whilst of course global events clearly impact our everyday life, is how we are being fed messages and news creating a level of concern and anxiety that is breeding a feeling of helplessness and a course of inertia and inaction
Firstly, it is simply wonderful to welcome back the inimitable Chris Brindley to TLC once again.
You might recall that he spoke to us in March 2023 on how from despondency, through postponement, to delivery of the biggest, best, and most inclusive sporting tournament ever held – the story of the Rugby League World Cup 2021. and he discussed lessons learned about stakeholder management, social impact, staying focused on your purpose, living your values, and the power of having sheer determination to get the job done!
Chris is a polymath and once met, never forgotten. His enthusiasm is infectious, but enthusiasm has to be allied with real skill and ability – and Chris has bags of that.
Chris spoke to TLC London in 2015 when he headed up Metro Bank and we were richly entertained at the Bank’s HQ. Then, in December 2020, his excellent presentation was entitled ‘Lessons from High Performing Teams in Business and Sport’.
At this time when everything seems doom and gloom I wanted to see if his mastery and infectious enthusiasm could reenergise us?
To elaborate on tonight’s event whilst aware of the challenges that a VUCA world brings Chris has a different view and approach than one of concern and anxiety. His ’Three Circles’ model which he will share, guides him as to where to spend his time and crucially what action to take and to identify those that can help and support him. TLC and its members, is itself a significant support network.
His ‘Acta non Verba’ approach has helped him become a credible leader in both business and sport, winning some key awards along the way including Institute of Directors, UK Non Executive Director of the Year, Britain’s Best Boss and an MBE for services to Charity and Sport. Chris will deliver an upbeat, energetic and positive approach, together with some tools and techniques that will get TLC members not only thinking, but taking action as a result of the session.
