Description
Ian Marlow
The eclecticism of TLC members and their breadth of knowledge and experience is without parallel. Naturally, it is entirely appropriate that we should consider the challenges of focusing on how to achieve Net Zero. The Nuclear Industry will play an important part and who better to help us in understanding the challenges than long standing TLC member Ian Marlow.
Ian has been Managing Director of the Nuclear business within EQUANS UK since October 2017, prior to which he was with Serco where he was Director of the Estates, Training and Resilience Sector within their Defence Division, looking after a diverse range of highly regulated multi-site contracts including Dstl.
Ian stared his career in the Army flying helicopters, having gained a BSc in Mechanical Engineering at Glasgow University and a later a Masters in Guided Weapon Systems.  He went on to fulfil a wide range of roles, and active service, including on the Ordnance Board where he looked after the safety of all anti-tank guided weapon systems, in MOD Whitehall where he controlled the funding programme for decommissioning of nuclear submarines and in the Army Recruiting and Training Division contracting over £1Bn of PFI and PPP contracts for the MOD.  When Ian left the Army in 2010, he worked for an aviation MRO company before joining Serco and then latterly ENGIE (the services and construction component of ENGIE renamed EQUANS in 2021 in preparation for its sale).
Ian will discuss:
- Current active nuclear generation fleet
- EQUANS nuclear services in UK and relationship with EDF
- Safety and success in the nuclear market
- Decommissioning nuclear power stations – the methodologies and challenges
- New nuclear
Join us on this last event before our August break to understand, discuss and debate the key challenges we face.
