Description
Tony Reeves
Lead Partner, Digital Defence, Deloitte
AI offers great advantages for leaders, with faster decision making, improved effectiveness, and increased productivity from teams. Across sectors, AI, Automation, and Robotics offers to enhance business performance and team effectiveness with human & machine teams increasing speed, productivity, and efficiency.
Yet current leadership training and coaching has not adjusted to reflect this new reality, and much of it still maintains principles and approaches that may seem irrelevant in future workplaces. This creates a risk that leadership will make unsafe decisions unless it adapts, and at the same time our teams need more leadership as they struggle to understand and adopt AI solutions and support.
More importantly, as we automate more functions and roles, where will our future leaders learn their craft or experience the essential lessons that they need to become future leaders?
Tony has pioneered digital disruption across defence and government sectors for the last 25 years as a military officer, government advisor, and business leader. He encourages faster adoption of new thinking while warning of the potential risks created by digital transformation and disruptive technologies.
He is a keen advocate for the need to change our mindsets, not our toolsets, to achieve critical advantages over adversaries and competitors, who increasingly realise their technological benefits at a quicker pace.
Tony has always been a geek and has served as a British Army Infantry Officer on operations in Bosnia, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, and Northern Ireland. In a critical national role, he supported the military adoption of new technologies and ways of working in Afghanistan, Iraq, and across Africa. Tony shaped future UK battlefield C4ISR solutions aligning future technological options with commercial approaches across sectors, before joining Microsoft to develop ethical technologies, including AI and mixed realities. He is now Deloitte UK Partner for Digital Defence, leading on AI adoption with UK MOD, exploiting big data, and digitising delivery operations.
