Teaching Agility & Lifelong Learning: How to Train the Next Generation on Jobs that Don’t Exist Yet

The UK has a huge problem with it’s welfare bill and therefore youth unemployment. According to Government statistics published in February 2026 there were 946000 people aged 16-24 were Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) in July to Septmber 2025. Help is needed from a variety of sources so let’s call on a top academic to get his take on the matter
To prepare students for a future where 85% of 2030’s jobs have yet to be invented, we must move from a “just-in-case” model of rote memorisation to a “just-in-time” framework centred on Teaching Agility. This shift prioritises meta learning: the ability to learn, unlearn, and relearn. These skills form the primary survival tool in an exponential economy. Moving away from rigid subject silos and towards interdisciplinary, problem-based learning equips the next generation with the cognitive flexibility to view AI as a collaborative co-pilot rather than a replacement. The goal is to move past teaching specific technical content, which now has a shrinking half-life. Instead, we must provide students with a “permanent compass” of adaptive resilience and systems thinking so they can navigate a constantly shifting professional landscape.
Bio:
Mohammad Touseef is an academic dean, visionary speaker, and accomplished author with over 15 years of leadership in higher education. Currently serving as Head of Higher Education at Waltham International College, in collaboration with Leeds Trinity University, and Co-chair at the Geneva Forum, United Nations, Mohammad plays a pivotal role in shaping academic strategies and advancing global educational discourse. He is also a distinguished mentor currently working with the students at Demont ford University, Southampton Solent and Arden University.
Throughout his career, he has held prominent academic leadership roles including Deputy Principal at EDA College with Birmingham Newman University, Head of Business School at BAJ in collaboration with Kingston University, Dean of Studies at LDT in partnership with the University of Suffolk, and Head of Employability and Senior Lecturer at Cecos College in partnership with Staffordshire University, and Head of Operations with Cambridge Regional College.
A sought-after speaker at academic and professional conferences, Mohammad is recognized for his expertise in careers guidance and employer engagement. He has co-authored two influential books and received numerous accolades from respected local and international institutions. As a Certified Business and Management Educator accredited by the Chartered Association of Business Schools, he continues to inspire, mentor, and lead the next generation of scholars and professionals. Touseef is also a fellow of the intelligence Community, professional member of Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development, Royal United Services Institute and a Global Goodwill Ambassador.
Mohammad Touseef is an alumnus of the University of Surrey, University of Salford, Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, and University of Oxford and has also completed executive education courses from Imperial College London and the University of Cambridge.
