How to take  great idea from zero to…..fruition.
Whilst most of us might associate surfing with the sea and the coast, Conwy Leisure saw a different scenario.  An inland surfing experience!  Make sense?

The company has been formed within the Ainscough Group to deliver the comprehensive redevelopment of a former industrial site at Dolgarrog in the Conwy Valley for sport, tourism and leisure purposes. Planning permission has now been granted by Conwy County Borough Council for a water sports facility with the World’s first Wavegarden artificial surfing lagoon as its signature attraction, hence the name of the site: www.surfsnowdonia.co.uk

It will be the World’s first and most exciting inland ‘Wavegarden’ artificial surfing lagoon. Based on a 300m x 113m lake, supported by a Hub building (restaurant, retail, changing rooms etc.), and children’s indoor play building, an outdoor activity lagoon – and fantastic scenery – it will consistently generate 6′ waves for experts, 4 ‘waves for intermediates and 2-3’ waves for beginners.

Things are now well underway for a Grand Opening in Spring 2015 but what have been the ups and downs, the highs and the lows.
Steve Davies is well known to TLC members because his previous job was the legendary Director, National Railway Museum. Prior to that Colonel Steve Davies MBE was a distinguished soldier and Colonel of the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment.  A highly engaging and enthusiastic speaker this TLC (No 50) will explore leadership by leading from the front
