Succession planning – can we ever do it well?
Olivier and Elizabeth Beroud
(The Future Leaders Group)
I have much admired the Future Leaders Group and the work they do particularly via The D Group https://www.dgroup.co.uk
I was therefore delighted when Olivier and Elizabeth, Programme Director and Lead Coach of The Future Leaders Group joined TLC last year. They have much to offer and on a personal note I was delighted when they came up with this topic. To explain in their own words:
‘Succession planning is a perennial Board Topic and yet is rarely done well. Famous examples are many of high-performing organisations which stumble after a charismatic leader leaves without succession in place. In addition, even if an organisation invests in Succession Planning, monitoring success and impact over the long term is difficult. So, what can we do to improve the success of this highly difficult and yet essential activity?’
