Dido Harding, Baroness Harding of Winscombe
Leadership Post the Pandemic..personal, corporate and political perspectives
I am absolutely delighted that TLC President, Baroness Dido Harding has agreed to share her thoughts, knowledge and experience with us tonight. Dido took over the Presidency following our House of Lords dinner last July and I cannot emphasise just how supportive she has been so I am very much looking forward to hearing her reflections.
Biography
Dido is a strategic leader with a proven track record of creating structure; building and empowering diverse teams around shared purpose to deliver results in challenging circumstances in both the private and public sectors.
A graduate of Magdalen College, Oxford, and Harvard Business School, Dido’s early career was with management consultancy McKinsey & Company. She worked in retailing for Tesco and Sainsburys for ten years and was subsequently CEO of the TalkTalk Group. Appointed to the House of Lords as a life peer in 2014. Dido stood down from TalkTalk after 7 years in 2017 to focus on purpose based public service activities.
As Chair of NHS Improvement, she oversaw all NHS hospitals, comprising foundation trusts and NHS trusts, as well as independent providers. During the Covid pandemic, as Executive Chair of NHS Test and Trace, she led the creation of the UK’s Covid testing and tracing service, building an organisation the size of ASDA in 6 months under intense pressure and public scrutiny.
Since 2018, Dido has been a Steward of Jockey Club and in July 2024 she became the first female Senior Steward (aka Chair) in the Club’s 272 year history. She was an amateur jockey for twenty years, with 25 winners to her name, and has been a racehorse owner all her adult life.
She is a member of the UK National Holocaust Memorial Foundation Advisory Board, Chair of West African social enterprise, MyAgro, and a Trustee of social enterprise seed funder, The Fore.
